What is missing from this article is that people living above the 34th latitude can only make vitamin D from sunlight half the year, from March to October, because the tilt of the earth for higher latitudes means the sunlight has a thicker atmosphere to travel through, which absorbs the UV rays. Sunshine exposure is still beneficial for T cells, as the author describes.
