I applaud James Rogers for looking into ways to lengthen the time we have to eat our fruits and veggies. Wouldn't that be wonderful? But why do we as a species think we can change life/nature/death safely? Our hubris? Playing God always seems to backfire whether we want to admit it or not. Eventually we pay the Piper.
I wonder what is happening under the apeel? The interior of the plant continues to age but in what way is it's chemistry altered by the imposition of an unnatural barrier between it and the open air. And how is the peel itself altered?
Those are meaningful questions indeed. We have been in contact with Apeel's co-founder, attempting to get more information. Like you say, this "unnatural barrier" is just not a feel-good option. A big concern is the possibility of not having to label down the road. We'll have to get up close and personal with the farms from which we eat... Thanks for your comment!
719 million dollars in funding is very suspicious. I can see the factory food companies having an interest in extending shelf life of food ingredients that is likely more profit driven than nefarious. But once you get the cabal involved, there's something else going on.
They can claim there's only this or that in it, but since government has been sold, there's no one regulating claims.
This is a big blow to organic foods. Organic is not pure, but it has been the best option from stores. We buy from an organic local farmer in season, but they don't grow all the varieties we need and then there's off-season.
Growing our own is a challenge, so it would be great for people to come together with ideas on combating this.

I use "store locator" on their website to search in 250 miles radius, and it ***only*** shows a bunch of Targets and Fresh Markets, although there are Trader Joe's ,Whole Foods, and other stores on the list in the article within a dozen miles of the index location.
That's because not every store on the list in every location has Apeel items in their produce bins yet. Great you did the search on their website to know what's happening in your particular area. You can also check with the stores you personally shop at. Stay mindful. :)

On that note, I think you were unfair to Bragg's. You asked them point blank if they use Apeel and they clearly said no, multiple times.
This is in contrast to many businesses that waffle on answering.
If you have evidence that they are lying, even circumspect, then that would be notable for the article. You say that they wouldn't tell you exactly which farms they source from, which I understand because it probably changes a lot.
Also they make a very compelling point that they have no need to extend the life of apples that they are processing for vinegar. Why would they add cost to their process for no reason? Right?
You asked a straight question, they gave a straight answer but you still weren't satisfied. What more is a business supposed to do?

I needed a refresher. :) I see that we gave multiple direct quotes from Bragg, in addition to stating questions and concerns we had discovered. I think the Bragg's part was impartial right up until you put the link to the other article, which actually has nothing to do with Apeel, and at least to me indirectly suggested that perhaps they were sneaking that in. But the other article just says people are upset with them for various other reasons.

how was this list of stores created? I see no citations for this information, for instance, Sprouts says on their site that they do not use apeel, are they lying? maybe, but should i trust them any less than a random list online with no citations for the information they claim?

I went through the free trial, and no where in the article does it claim that Sprouts uses apeel, in fact I had to go into the comments to find any mention of this
